Identity Theft

The below company is a victim of identity theft. Their corporate name, images, bank and trade references and employees’ names are being used without authorization or consent.

On March 9, 2010, a Seller received an unsolicited email requesting a quote for 150 units of Kingston 2GB 667MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL5 SODIMM, part number KVR667D2S5/2G on Net 20 terms, allegedly from We Love Macs Inc. The Seller requested bank and trades, which were provided. The credit information included a federal tax ID, Dun and Bradstreet number and a resale certificate number. A Purchase Order was placed for 200 pieces of part number KVR667D2S5/2G totaling $10,880.00 with shipment to Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Seller faxed the bank for a credit reference using the fax number provided on the bank and trade references and obtained a response the same day. The response was sent via FaxZero.com, a free fax service. Becoming suspicious, the Seller located and called the local branch of the bank located near the corporate office and learned that the fax number provided on the bank and trade reference is not the real fax number for the bank. The Seller then searched the Internet for We Love Macs. Noticing the phone and fax numbers were different, the Seller contacted the company via the website information and learned that this order was fraudulent.

The phone number is an unpublished land line located in Seattle, Washington. The fax number is an unpublished land line in Provo, Utah.

A reverse search of the ship to address has two business listings for companies who sell window and fencing products, neither of which is in the name Russell Ayres or has a phone number matching the fax number used by the imposter.

The website, www.welovemacs.biz, was privately registered on February 11, 2010.
According to the REAL WeLoveMacs, they do employ a person named Karen Tran; however, all emails coming from WeLoveMacs, a division of Compass Memory Inc., uses domains of welovemacs.com or memoryx.com. WeLoveMacs states they have received over 30 calls from companies attempting to confirm orders. Both the FBI and local police have been alerted. Please contact the WeLoveMacs for confirmation prior to accepting any new orders.
